potato, Village Telco, Internet and Phone billing) Through WISP
internet link can be shared amongst neighbors such as schools,
organizations and institutions and have a billing system which enables

UNESCO helps Kenyan libraries build their digital collections

UNESCO Office in
Nairobi is organizing a basic training workshop on the Greenstone
digital library software at the University of Nairobi (Main Campus
Library), Kenya, from 22 to 26 September 2008. The workshop is
providing training to 20 participants most of whom are coming from

Kenyan Students Design Vote Tallying Software

A group of university students in Nairobi has developed tallying
software that could cut costs and eliminate errors at the Electoral
Commission of Kenya. The students said the software could enable the
controversial electoral body record and process results electronically
at individual polling stations across the country.

Rwandese poll coverage goes Hi-tech

While elections are meant to let the views of the citizens of a
country prevail on whom they would want as head of their government,
too often (and especially in Africa) a number of behind the scenes
events impair the integrity of the electoral process and irretrievably
pollute the results.

Widespread bribery, vote-buying, intimidation and ballot-stuffing —
compounded by defective data tabulation, transmission and tallying at
the end of the day overshadow the intended outcome.

Whats a digital village? ICT BOARD kenya and world bank Initiative.

The Government of Kenya in collaboration with the World Bank
is rolling out massive 300 information centers - the digital villages. These

VISION 2030

Rising from the ashes of post-election violence in January this
year, the government of Kenya has come up with a plan to improve
economic development over the next couple of decades. Vision 2030 is a
forward looking plan to increase the already high gross domestic product
(GDP) growth rate of 6.1% to 10% per year starting in 2012. Ultimately,
with Vision 2030 put to action, Kenya will be propelled into the ranks
of other high-growth countries like Singapore, Dubai and Malaysia.
